David Scheiding Celebrated for Dedication to the U.S. Military

Throughout his notable military career, Mr. Scheiding was the Air Force's System Program Manager for several aircraft, including the T-37, T-38, O-2A, OV-10, I'-102, F-106, F-5, and AT-37.

    SAN ANTONIO, TX, April 25, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David Scheiding has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Born in November of 1942, Mr. Scheiding was raised in a small town in central Iowa by religious parents who instilled a strong belief in God. His dedication to his career was evident from an early age. Upon graduating high school, he earned a degree in aerospace engineering from Iowa State University, where he met his wife. Given his attendance at a state university, he was required to participate in the Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) program and selected the Air Force ROTC. After completing the mandatory first two years, he decided that if he could pass the pilot physical he would complete the final two years of advanced ROTC. Subsequently, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force. After completing undergraduate pilot training, he became an instructor pilot before volunteering to deploy to Vietnam. As a Captain, he was selected to be the operations officer of the largest combat squadron in Vietnam during the Spring Offensive of 1972. Over the years, he gained valuable expertise in the military as a finance director, system program manager, and structural engineer at Kelly Air Base. While performing duties as the lead structural engineer for the C-5A fleet, he was selected to participate on the accident board for the C-5A aircraft that crashed on April 4, I975, in Vietnam known as "Operation Babylift.'' Mr. Scheiding co-authored a dissenting accident report to the two-star General accident board president's report as to the actual cause of the accident which was accepted by the Air Force Safety Department. During his Air Force career, Mr. Scheiding flew the T-37, T-38, T/AT/BT-33, O-2A, T-39, and F­11D aircraft, compiling over 4800 hours of flying time of which 630 hours were combat time while performing forward air controller (FAC) duties in the O-2A in Vietnam. He also served as the squadron commander for the F-111D, 523rd Tactical Fighter Squadron at Cannon Air Force Base.

Throughout his notable military career, Mr. Scheiding was the Air Force's System Program Manager for several aircraft, including the T-37, T-38, O-2A, OV-10, I'-102, F-106, F-5, and AT-37. Before retiring as a colonel he was the finance director for the Materiel Management (MM) Directorate of the San Antonio Air Logistics Center (ALC) where he was responsible for five billion dollars of the Air Force's budget authority to procure spare parts for the Air Force. Dedicated to furthering his professional knowledge, he pursued two graduate degrees, earning a Master of Science in civil engineering and an MBA from the University of Denver. Mr. Scheiding is also a Texas licensed Professional Engineer (PE). After retiring from the Air Force, Mr. Scheiding started and ran his own environmental consulting firm for 18 years as the president and chief executive officer of STC Environmental Consulting Services, from which he retired in 2010.

Owing to his considerable life experiences, Mr. Scheiding has authored several articles and three books including "Hank, an Angel Dog," "Don't Fly Today-When God Speaks – Listen!" and "The Long Return – Should the Military Be Used as a Political Tool?" Within the coming years, Mr. Scheiding intends to continue writing about his experiences and enjoying his retirement.
