A9 Announces new Bassline single, "Higher" featuring Sumeet

    /24-7PressRelease/ - ASTORIA, NY, June 13, 2008 - New York City based producer A9 (Architekt 9) and Canadian born R&B singer Sumeet have collaborated and released a new Bassline song titled "Higher". The song was written by Richmond, Virginia native Sandy Spady, over a beat produced by A9 that brings the relatively new genre called "Bassline House" or simply "Bassline", to the U.S.

"Bassline" is form of dance music which was born in Sheffield, England circa 2002, and gained popularity throughout the UK in subsequent years. The genre's key characteristics include a strong emphasis on an intricate bass-line, with a 'four-to-the-floor' beat that resembles 2-Step Garage. Bassline music has continued to grow in popularity since the mid-2000's, rising on the UK pop charts.

"I wanted to do a Bassline track that incorporated the grimy, gritty feel of New York City," says Arckitekt 9. "It had to be something intense and dirty, and as soon as I finished it, I knew exactly who I wanted to write it and sing on it."

Sumeet, whose previous releases include the dancehall hit "Agony" featuring Elephant Man, and A9 have collaborated before on numerous 2-Step remixes and originals, including "You Blew It (C'est La Vie)" and "You Belong To Me", released by Stereohype Records in the UK along with mixes of those songs by famed producer MJ Cole.

"I love working with A9! He's always introducing new sounds and styles," said Sumeet about the collaboration. "This track was so fresh and different. Two bars into hearing the beat, I knew I wanted to sing over it."

The song was officially released as a digital single in two versions: a radio edit (3:19) and an extended mix (5:37). Both are now available for sale through iTunes, AmazonMP3, Napster, MySpace's SnoCap, and other on-line outlets. It is currently being serviced to radio and DJ's worldwide.
