California Manufactured Housing Institute Kicks-Off First National Manufactured Housing Week

Congress designated this week as Manufactured Housing Week in recognition of the important role manufactured housing plays in meeting the housing needs of all Americans.

/24-7PressRelease/ - RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA, June 16, 2008 - California Manufactured Housing Institute (CMHI) kicks-off the start of the first national Manufactured Housing Week today as part of National Homeownership Month. Congress designated this week as Manufactured Housing Week in recognition of the important role manufactured housing plays in meeting the housing needs of all Americans. CMHI will acknowledge this week with several events to demonstrate our industry's commitment to providing quality housing for a wide array of lifestyles. Some of these events include local home shows and factory tours at selected factories.

At homeownership fairs and other events planned across the country throughout this week, manufactured and factory built housing companies including CMHI members will reach-out to potential homebuyers, decision makers and opinion leaders to provide them with information on the quality and efficiency of factory constructed homes. They will also discuss the role homeownership plays in helping families build wealth and strengthen their communities.

"Owning a home is the American Dream, and this week we're celebrating this dream," said Jess Maxcy, CMHI President. "Manufactured homes are a high quality and affordable option for millions of Americans. In fact over 18 million people in the United States, representing all segments of our diverse population, live in manufactured homes. We encourage consumers to visit our home shows, factories and sales centers during this special week and throughout the year to experience the value of factory constructed homes."

Despite the current housing downturn, homeownership is still the largest wealth builder in the country. The industry recognizes the important role that manufactured homes play in helping to increase the number of people that own their own homes. And, they are committed to continuing to create homeownership opportunities for all Americans. For more information, visit CMHI's website at www.cmhi.org.
