Tree house builder Derek Saunderson launches Amazon Tree Houses Ltd

    /24-7PressRelease/ - Ayrshire, Scotland, July 15, 2008 - LEADING UK tree house designer and builder Derek Saunderson has set up his own new company Amazon Tree Houses Ltd after many years building tree houses while employed by other companies.

Derek (36) based in Cronberry in Ayrshire, Scotland, brings an entirely fresh approach to tree house building.

He says: "At Amazon Tree Houses our aim is to bring the craft of tree house building back from the accountants and salesmen, and put it back firmly in the hands of the craftsmen whose passion for tree house building shows in their skill and commitment for creating beautiful and natural structures."

Originally trained as a joiner, Derek's new company is also offering other related garden structures such as Tree Decks.

And whilst on holiday in Canada recently, Derek became interested in the idea of constructing traditional Canadian log cabins, and is currently involved in discussions with a Canadian company with a view to turning this idea into reality.

But tree houses are the main focus of Derek's new business.

He says: "Tree houses are as unique as the host tree in which they are constructed, giving us the opportunity to create your very own unique getaway.

"A place to indulge your children's creativity and adventurous play, or a place in which you can entertain and relax. The possibilities are endless.

Tree houses are buildings constructed among the branches or next to the trunk of one or more mature trees, and are raised above the ground. Tree houses can be built for recreation or permanent habitation.

Since the mid-1990s, recreational tree houses have enjoyed a rise in popularity in countries such as the USA, the UK and parts of mainland Europe. This has been due to increased disposable income, better technology for builders, research into safe building practises and an increased interest in environmental issues, particularly sustainable living. This has in turn provided a demand for businesses which cover all the building and design work for their clients.
