/24-7PressRelease/ - LARCHMONT, NY, August 27, 2008 - On Monday, October 27, 2008, Clarke will host its Fifth Annual Fine Art Auction, featuring fresh-to-market and exceptional 19th and 20th Century paintings and sculpture.

Clarke's Fourth Annual Fine Art Auction uncovered rare works by or set records for artists as diverse as Daniel Chester French, Anton Refregier, William Scharf and African-Americans Al Loving Jr and Charles Sebree.

Clarke's Fifth Fine Art Auction will again offer estate-fresh, unusual, and exceptional works from artists such as Larry Rivers, Jane Freilicher, Gladys Bates, and Mary Cassatt.

African-American art, again a Clarke strength, will feature historically and artistically significant works from Beauford Delaney and Al Loving Jr.

International art includes works from Thomas Rowlandson, Eugene Berman, Brett Whiteley, Wynne Apperley, and Gabriel Spat.

Clarke anticipates great interest in the signed 1925 lithograph by Henri Matisse.

Two fresh-to-market single owner collections of prints feature rare pieces by Martin Lewis, John Sloan, Reginald Marsh, and Yasuo Kunioshi in addition to works from Robert Motherwell, Helen Frankenthaler, and Joan Miro.

A Riverdale NYC estate provided an unusual midcentury collection from American sculptors, including pieces by Alexander Calder, Fritz Bultman and Theodore Roszak.

Founder and owner Ronan Clarke notes that "each successive Clarke Fine Art Auction has far exceeded our expectations in terms of excitement, quality and results. While our Fifth Annual Fine Art Auction has the bar set higher, finding fresh and great works from Larry Rivers, Beauford Delaney, Fabio Fabbi or Henry Matisse means that we anticipate our greatest auction yet."
