The following is a list of fun fall events that are sure to please children and parents alike.

The St. Louis Arch - Take in the beauty of the St. Louis skyline at night while showing off your best Halloween costume. For a mere $20 admission, set sail on the Halloween Costume Party Cruise and enjoy light hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, live DJ and dancing, Halloween candy and decorations and a costume contest on Halloween night. St. Louis Zoo - Celebrate October at the St. Louis Zoo with Ottertoberfest on September 27-28 and October 4-5 & 11-12. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each weekend, admission is free for this family fun fest. In honor of the fun-loving North American River Otters, the Zoo will host Ottertoberfest, a fall event featuring traditional German biergartens, live music, kids' activities, performers and more. At the biergartens, visitors can purchase beer, root beer, bratwurst, pretzels, and other German specialties. Otter-related kids' activities include an obstacle course, otter tracks and crafts. All activities are designed for kids ages 2-10.

Also at the Zoo this autumn are the St. John's Mercy Children's Hospital Boo at the Zoo Nights. From 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, October 17 through Thursday, October 30, 2008, discover the Zoo's non-scary, kid-friendly Halloween experience that's filled with fun and adventure. Admission is $4/member; $5/non-member. Children under two are free, with free parking in the South Lot.

Then on Saturday, October 25, 2008, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., enjoy the St. John's Mercy Children's Hospital Boo at the Zoo Spooky Saturday. "Mummies" and daddies are invited to bring their little ghouls and goblins for safe and free trick-or-treating, entertainment, games and costume parade along the Pumpkin Trail. Children are encouraged to wear their special Halloween costumes.

Grant's Farm - Enjoy various fall festivities and autumn activities at Grant's Farm during the upcoming Halloween season. From Thursday to Saturdays on the following dates, families of all ages will love wandering around the farm and experiencing all that it has to offer: October 9-11, 16-18, 23-25; from 6-10 p.m. (The Entrance closes at 9 p.m.)

Forest Park - Urban hayrides through Forest Park bring a taste of the country into the heart of the city. The City of St. Louis Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry will offer hayrides in Forest Park on Friday and Saturday nights on fall weekends starting Friday, Oct. 3 and ending Saturday, Dec. 13. Take the 45-minute ride then return to the picnic grounds where a bonfire is waiting, ready to warm fingers and toes. Groups can even bring hot dogs and marshmallows to roast. The bonfire has a one-hour time limit and wagons must be reserved in advance for group rides.
