Rebecca L. Young Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Special Education

    Special Needs Educator with Lakeland School Corporation, Wolcottville, Indiana

WOLCOTTVILLE, IN, October 11, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rebecca L. Young, Special Education Teacher with Lakeland School Corporation, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of special education.

With 33 years of professional experience, Ms. Young specializes in conducting resource classes for children with learning disabilities and other mild disabilities in kindergarten through fifth-grade. She is proud to have the ability to ensure that her students make gains in skill development in reading, written expression and math. A graduate of Saint Francis University, Ms. Young received her Master's Degree in Special Education and her Bachelor of Arts in Special Education from Ball State University.

Schooled in the most up-to-date educational methods, Ms. Young received certification in scotopic sensitivity syndrome screening and the Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Reading method. In addition, she completed training with the University of Kansas with focus on learning strategies, the Dunn and Dunn Learning Styles Model, the Carbo Reading Method and the Tucker Signing Strategies for Reading. She completed training from the Kagan Institute with focus on multiple intelligences, and training in the Four Blocks Reading Method, the Writer's Workshop and Guided Reading.

Ms. Young is a member of the International Dyslexic Association, the National Association of Special Education Teachers and Sigma Alpha Iota. She is a past speaker for the Northeast Indiana Special Education Cooperative and is a former member of the Lakeland Curriculum-Development Committee, the Lakeland Education Report Card Committee and the Technology Committee, and Wolcott Mills Support Team for Class. An avid humanitarian, she supports a missionary family in Asia.
