Benny Widyono, Ph.D., Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who Executive, Professional and Entrepreneurial Registry

    STAMFORD, CT, October 11, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Benny Widyono, Adjunct Professor at the University of Connecticut, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of higher education and international diplomacy.

Dr. Widyono, a native of Indonesia, has 10 years of experience in higher education, with the last two of these years spent with the University of Connecticut. He specializes in teaching economics and is responsible for conducting classes on economic development, developing curricula and attending meetings on international relations. Prior to joining the University of Connecticut, Dr. Widyono had a 35-year career with the United Nations serving in new York, Chile, Thailand and Cambodia to promote economic and social development in poor countries and in peacekeeping operations, culminating in his appointment as the UN-Secretary-General's Representative in Cambodia, 1994-97. He was appointed a visiting fellow at Cornell University's Southeast Asia program from 2003 to 2006. From 2008, he serves as an advisor to Leopard Cambodia Fund, a major private equity firm investing in Cambodia.

Benny Widyono received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Texas in 1963. During his stay at Cornell University, he documented his experiences as a peacekeeper in Cambodia in a book widely acclaimed in the press entitled "Dancing in Shadows, Sihanouk, the Khmer Rouge and the United Nations in Cambodia" which was published by Rowman & Littlefield Publishers in 2008. He attributed his success to his people management skills.
