Kathleen M. Regan, RN, MHA, CNA, BC Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Nursing Administration

    CAMBRIDGE, MA, October 15, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kathleen M. Regan, Nurse Manager for the Child Assessment Unit at Cambridge Health Alliance, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of nursing administration.

With 31 years of professional experience, Ms. Regan excels in nursing administration and psychiatric care of children. She began her career as a registered nurse at McLean Hospital and joined South Shore Mental Health, where she worked as both the associate director of the day treatment center for five years and later as the director of the crisis team for over seven years. In 2001, she joined Cambridge Health Alliance as the nurse manager for the child assessment unit and has been in that position for the past seven years. Ms. Regan published a book entitled "Opening Our Arms.... Helping Troubled Kids Do Well" through the Bull Publishing Company in 2006. She considers the work she and her staff have accomplished to improve the psychiatric care of children to be her greatest professional accomplishment.

A board certified nurse administrator through the American Nurse Credentialing Center, Ms. Regan completed a fellowship in leadership education for neurodevelopmental disabilities at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Suffolk University and the Shriver Center in 2004. She received her Master's Degree in Health Administration from Suffolk University, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Boston College and her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Stonehill College.

Ms. Regan was an advisory board member of the Foundation for Children with Behavioral Challenges and Step Up For Kids. She served as the president of Adoptive Families Together in 2004 and was one of the founding members of the Massachusetts Coalition for Adoption. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
