"Waiting for My Real Life" an independent, award-winning feature documentary is scheduled to screen in the Beverly Hills Hi-Def Film Festival, on Monday, December 29, at 7:30pm, at the Fine Arts Theater, 8556 Wilshire Blvd, Beverly Hills.

VANCOUVER, BC, December 20, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Canadian independent film production company, Corazon Productions Ltd, is pleased to announce the California Premiere of the new award-winning feature length documentary "Waiting for My Real Life" at the Beverly Hills Hi-Def Film Festival.

"Waiting for My Real Life" is one of six independent films from around the world selected to be screened throughout the USA in Carmike Cinemas "Independent Film Night" starting in March 2009.

This is an American story about a young man's courageous battle against incredible odds. It's also a tragic love story. Jeremy Norman is 23 years old. Bedridden for three years, Jeremy is trapped in the basement of his parents house. As a child, he was diagnosed with a rare disease that caused extremely low levels of testosterone. Everything he ate turned to fat. He also had an addiction to soda. The result - his body exploded to over 800 pounds.

Jeremy has been married for five years. Roberta met him online and the two teenagers fell in love. They went to college together and dreamed of both becoming artists. But Jeremy's weight continued to escalate and their dreams started to slip away. Three years ago, Jeremy went through gastric bypass surgery in an attempt to save his life. Roberta sat by his bedside through all the suffering and five near death experiences he endured following complications to his surgery.

Jeremy survived. Unable to walk due to scar tissue and complications from his operation, Jeremy's only hope is another surgery. If successful, he will be able to live a normal life. We journey through Jeremy's life from childhood to today as he continues his fight and waits for his real life to begin.

"Waiting for My Real Life" also reveals the most significant threat to America's future. Obesity is now regarded as the major cause of death in the US and is the biggest global pandemic in the world today. The richest country in the world has now become the fattest. The documentary exposes this pandemic as being fueled by collusion between the food industry and the U.S. government. On the other side of the war in Washington, doctors, scientists and lawyers battle the food industry and the U.S. Congress.

Filmed throughout Canada and the United States, "Waiting for My Real Life" is directed by one of Canada's finest documentary makers, Geoff Bowie, (The Universal Clock, The Nature of Things) and produced by Canadian father and son team, Michael Harrison and Jonathan Harrison (The Lanza Sessions).

The California Premiere of "Waiting for My Real Life" will screen at the Beverly Hills Hi-Def Film Festival, on Monday December 29 at 7:30pm at the Fine Arts Theatre, 8556 Wilshire Blvd, Beverly Hills, CA 90211
