    MIAMI, FL, March 19, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Luna Road, a company that specializes in the design, manufacture, supply and installation of the new high-tech "cat's eyes," now known as Luna Road Lights, launches an extraordinarily wide range of direct customization features and options for their advanced, Eco-friendly road safety technology.

Unlike conventional retro-reflective road markers, Luna Road Lights contain Solar Powered LEDs, which illuminates the actual line direction of the road, for miles in front of drivers.

Luna Road Lights removes the need for car headlights to reflect on conventional road markers in order to provide nighttime visibility. Unlike conventional streetlights, which only provide a haze-light effect in the environment, and create dark spots in between each streetlight on the road, the increased illuminated distance visibility delivered by the Luna Road Lights will serve as a warning indication to drivers on the road from miles away, providing drivers with more visual information, allowing them to average more effectively while driving, in addition to increasing the decision making time for drivers on the roads at night.

Each individual light is comprised of a solar panel (poly-crystalline silicon / single-crystalline silicon material), an internal battery (for energy storage), a light sensor and LED's.

Luna Road offers the choice of two different types of battery storage capabilities: a Ni-MH rechargeable battery and an ultracapacitor storage device. Ni-MH batteries have a usual charge / discharge cycle of around 1,000 times at maximum performance, giving the Ni-MH battery a two to three year lifespan. The ultracapacitor storage device has a charge / discharge cycle of approximately 100,000 times, which greatly enhances the life cycle of the Luna Road Light and increases the physical performance and environmental efficiency of the technology.

As the sun begins to set and the ambient environment starts to become dark, the light-sensing device determines the luminous intensity in the environment and then sends a message to the LED's to activate them for illumination. Luna Road offers its customers the ability to set desired luminous intensity levels (also known as LUX levels) for the activation of each light. This means that the Luna Road Lights can be customized to be activated during different environmental conditions that bring with them different light intensities.

Luna Road also offers the ability to tailor the color and light mode of the LED's. Luna Road offers a range of different colors, and allows the customer the ability to determine the exact RGB levels, so that the customer can develop specific color codings for their needs. Luna Road also allows you to determine the number of LEDs to be placed in each unit.

You can choose from two light modes; a constant light or a flashing light mode. Those who select flashing LED's can even specify the desired number of flashes per minute. Luna Road offers its technology in a basic, yet high-endurance polycarbonate material, which is a more cost-effective and economical option. Luna Road also offers its technology in a more advanced super-strength aluminum alloy casing material, for use in harsher and more rugged environmental conditions
