MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, March 20, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tennis fans from around the world have just a few short weeks to wait until the 2009 edition of the Barcelona Open Banco Sabadell takes place.

A range of the world's top players are due to take part in the championship, which was previously known as the Open Seat Godo, for a total prize fund of nearly 2 million Euros.

Set to take place between April 18th and 26th, this year's event will - for the first time - be held as an Open 500 category tournament.

Rafael Nadal, who has won the event on four previous occasions, has confirmed his entry for 2009.

He will no doubt be looking to extend his winning streak and is one of four of the world's top ten players to have announced their participation in the Barcelona Open Banco Sabadell.

French star Gael Monfils, Russia's Nikolay Davydenko and Spain's Fernando Verdasco will all be involved in the tournament.

The remainder of the international tennis stars set to take part in the event include Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France, Russia's Igor Andreev, Swedish star Robin Soderling and David Nalbandian from Argentina.

Fans looking to see the action can pick up tickets for the event - and several other associated contests - from 7.50 Euros to 371 Euros. A wide array of Barcelona Hotels is available, meaning accommodation should not be a problem.
