Intrepid Taps Into Voluntourism Trend With Discount

In a survey conducted by Intrepid Travel of its passengers globally, 68.6 per cent of respondents expressed an interest to volunteer

BOULDER, CO, March 20, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Intrepid Travel has launched a new campaign aimed at tapping into the growing trend of voluntourism. Intrepid is offering passengers a 15 per cent discount on a second trip when they book onto one of its 31 volunteering trips to nine countries around the world.

The incentive is aimed at the growing number of passengers wanting to discover the thrill of giving something back and making a real difference to the world. In a survey conducted by Intrepid Travel of its passengers globally, 68.6 per cent of respondents said voluntourism was of interest to them and only 6.2 per cent said it wasn't.

"These trips are really popular with younger passengers and we hope the incentive motivates some to spend their university holidays seeing and contributing to the world," said Intrepid Travel CEO and Co-founder, Darrell Wade.

Intrepid Travel has a number of countries, experiences, lengths and prices to choose from. Travelers could find themselves renovating a local school, building a healthcare clinic or teaching a busy classroom of up to 100 kids. Trips are on offer from the mountains of Peru to the beaches of Southern India, from the highlands of Vietnam to the jungle of Ghana.

Intrepid Travel's most popular volunteering trip is its 14 day 'Ghana teaching & building'. Home to some of Africa's friendliest people, Ghana is where Intrepid Volunteering began. Travelers join a group of like-minded volunteers to experience and contribute to daily life in a small Ghanaian village. Travelers might find themselves building infrastructure to the support the community's needs or teaching in a rural school. The trip starts from USD $1455, including all meals when on site, transport (excluding flights) and accommodation.

With Intrepid's 15 per cent discount on a second trip, exploring other parts of Africa is easy.
