/24-7PressRelease/ - November 10, 2005 - Dr. Rhonda Hackett: "In the wake of Hurricane Katrina and other disasters worldwide, more and more people have been asking, 'What can I do to help?' Though millions of dollars are donated to charities each year, we find ourselves writing that check but feeling incredibly dissatisfied with that effort."
Making a Difference: Changing the World One Penny and One Minute at a Time is a how-to-book of putting your compassion to work, no matter if you are nine or 90. It brings to light how unexpectedly easy it is to improve the lives of people, especially those in our very own communities. Filled with practical ideas and personal experiences, Dr. Hackett not only teaches readers how to make common sense decisions when it comes to making monetary donations to charities, but also provides inexpensive and powerful ways to help others:
• How to make a difference in the lives of seniors
• How to reach out to the homeless
• How to help feed the hungry
• How to meet the special needs of women and children
• How to identify the needs of low-income daycare centers and schools
• How you and your coworkers can give back to your community
• How to formulate your own "Make-a-Difference Plan"
Dr. Rhonda Hackett has helped tens of thousands of people since she began trying to "make a difference." Currently she is the founder and director of Nivek, a consulting company that develops and implements community outreach programs and provides health education services to Denver's homeless population. She has worked with the victim assistance program of the Denver Police Department and HealthOne Alliance, through which she first learned about the needs of the homeless. Dr. Hackett was also the Associate Dean for Community Clinical Education for a medical school in Kansas City, Missouri. She dedicates all of her outreach work to the memory of her father.
