Acoustical Solutions introduces Sonex Classic Colortec light gray acoustical foam.

The deeper shade of Sonex Colortec, charcoal gray, has been available for several years and has been commonly used for a variety of interior spaces that require quality sound control with an enhanced appearance including offices, restaurants, broadcast/audio studios and manufacturing facilities.

/24-7PressRelease/ - RICHMOND, VA, November 13, 2005 - Following on the popularity of the deeper charcoal color, we are now introducing the light gray version. Traditionally class 1 fire rated foam has been white, since that is the way in which the raw material is received. Many recording studios, broadcast and audio facilities cannot use white foam and were searching for more aesthetic choice that maintained both the acoustical ratings as well as fire ratings, thus Sonex Classic Colortec was introduced.

Instead of simply painting the surface of white foam, like Sonex does with some of its other products, the Sonex Classic Colortec is actually dyed throughout the foam. The dye penetrates the entire thickness of each panel, making it possible to keep a clean, consistent look even when pieces must be cut to fit around conduit or other obstructions. This allows for a much improved visual appearance to the foam, since you do not have any white showing through the paint or any white exposed where you may have had to trim or cut a panel down to size to fit your particular application.

Sonex Classic Colortec features a modified anechoic wedge design for cost-effective yet impressive sound control. The geometric shape of the panel's surface pattern makes for optimum deflection of sound waves, making them an ideal choice for theaters and recording and broadcast studios. These acoustic foam panels offer excellent acoustical control across all frequencies with Noise Reduction Coefficients (NRC's) of 0.75. Because they are made from melamine foam, Sonex Classic Colortec Panels are a safe and affordable option. Melamine foam is Class 1 fire-rated according to ASTM E 84 for flame spread and smoke density. Sonex Classic Colortec also meets the corner burn test UL 1715.

Properly placed on walls and ceilings, Sonex Classic Colortec Panels will easily absorb disruptive sounds like noise from machines as well as the highs and lows of laughter and conversation. The two-inch-thick Colortec panels measure 24"x48" and are easily mounted to any wall or ceiling using Sonex water-based panel adhesive. Designed with durability in mind, the panels can withstand excessive moisture and humidity without warping, swelling, or sagging.
