The Luminous World of Artist Carlo D'Alessio Held Over at Michael H. Lord Gallery, Palm Springs, CA

A show by New York painter Carlo D'Alessio which has been held over by popular demand is well worth seeing in Palm Springs. The exhibition will now continue through May 3 at the Michael H. Lord Gallery.

PALM SPRINGS, CA, April 17, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- "Art comes from your inner soul; I think art is meant to uplift people," says Carlo D'Alessio. After you view his work, it's obvious he has clearly achieved this end.

Carlo D'Alessio's paintings draw you in to a transcendent world of light and color. By layering acrylic paint with varnish, layer built upon layer, he creates a three-dimensional effect that mimics changes in natural light. Viewers are struck by their beauty and luminosity. D'Alessio's artwork is sometimes confused with some photographic process, but they are paintings and possess a vitality that can only be achieved by a master.

With a wide range of subjects from figurative to nature, landscapes and even architecture, D'Alessio's paintings are surreal and hyperrealistic. His recent paintings include "Andromeda," boulders submerged in water with the galaxy of stars reflected on the surface; "Eve," a young woman half in water surrounded by 11 floating apples, and "Eden," the earth ascending from a red silk-lined box.

Born in the Bronx in 1954, D'Alessio was accepted into New York's School of Music and Art, graduated from Fordham University, studied at New York's School of Visual Arts, and attended the renowned Art Students League. His career as a visual artist spans more than three decades.

"We are delighted to extend this show - these are extraordinary works of exceptional quality - it's a show you won't want to miss." says Sam Heaton, Gallery Director. The gallery is open Monday through Saturday, 10 to 6, and Sunday, 12 to 5.

The Michael H. Lord Gallery, first established in 1978, recently opened its new location in the Palm Springs Design District at 1090 North Palm Canyon Drive at Tachevah Drive. Located in an architecturally-significant building built in 1929 as the garage for the swank El Mirador Hotel, the 6,000 square foot art gallery is the largest in Palm Springs and shows museum-quality artwork.
