"A Love For Life" Launches Online Donation Capability to Aid Fundraising Efforts for Pancreatic Research

New Functionality Launched In Time for Largest Fundraising Event Held at the Philadelphia Dragon Boat Festival On October 4th

NEWTOWN, PA, October 02, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A Love for Life, an organization set up to raise money for pancreatic cancer research, announced today that it now offers the ability to receive online donations through University of Pennsylvania's Penn Giving Pages where 100% of every dollar donated will go towards research; no percentage is taken for administrative costs/postage or marketing and no donation is too small.

According to the American Cancer Society, pancreatic cancer is currently the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States, and is anticipated to become the second by 2020. Pancreatic cancer is one of the nation's deadliest cancers with a five-year relative survival rate of just 6 percent. An estimated 73 percent of patients will die in the first year of diagnosis. In 2014 alone, an estimated 46,420 people will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the United States, and approximately 39,590 will die from the disease.

"We are dedicated to finding a cure for this disease. PENN is at the forefront of research in the United States, and we are impressed by their dedication to this cause. They are searching for a solution to a difficult puzzle, and A Love for Life hopes to help them find the missing pieces. Our organization celebrates life, friendship, and adventure while having a lot of fun along the way," said Christine Edmonds, President of A Love for Life.

Dragon Boat Fundraiser is the Largest for A Love for Life
This marks the third year for A Love For Life's fundraiser, which again has five boats confirmed to race in this year's 13th Annual International Dragon Boat Festival in Philadelphia, PA along the banks of the Schuylkill River.

Local residents have formed five dragon boat teams, which include 20 paddlers, a drummer, steersperson and alternates on each boat. All team participants are racing with the common goal of raising awareness about pancreatic cancer and money for pancreatic cancer research.

"All the money raised will go to a dedicated fund at the Abramson Cancer Center in Philadelphia. So far, more than $65,000 has been raised, and we are hoping to raise a total of $100,000 by Valentine's Day. While this weekend's event is the largest, the Dragon Boat Race is just one of our many fundraisers held throughout the year," added Edmonds.

Sponsors of the 2014 A Love for Life team include Beneficial Bank, Doylestown Emergency Associates, Groundswell Design Group, Fast Big Dog Racing, Yogasphere, Healthcasts, Herspiegel Consulting, and 50 other generous companies and individuals.

Others wishing to donate towards the Dragon Boat team effort can do so through online donations.
