A MAD idea - bike without a saddle!

M_A-D (Mountainbike Aerial Display Team) launch their 'Phase 1' bike - special trials bike which comes with fat tyres for FAT stunts and NO saddle!

/24-7PressRelease/ - KENT, UK, September 20, 2006 - Kent based bike team M-A-D (Mountain Bike Aerial Display team) are launching their 'Phase 1' bike this week. But this isn't just any bike, NO, this is a bike with a difference - for a start there's no saddle! The Phase 1 comes with two big fat tyres, minimal gearing and is tailor made to pop wheelies and bunny hops. The bike is the brain child of M-A-D a team of riders with 10 years stunt experience.

MD of M-A-D, Giles Wolfe says; 'after many years of developing our M-A-D brand in display arenas around the world we've now developed a product to go with our brand. We've held back on building a bike until now, because we wanted to get it right. And now seems the perfect time - we've just celebrated our 10th birthday and have teamed up with 2x2 - the exclusive distributors tied in with Land Rover - to launch a bike designed by riders for riders.'
M-A-D's Phase 1 bike will be available via 50 exclusive independent bike dealers in the UK.

The M-A-D brand came about in 1996 after Giles saw some riders showing off on their bikes, Giles says; 'I realised that if I brought a bit of discipline and a format to the show, I would have something that could translate well in to an audience'.

Over the past ten years the dynamic team have traveled the world wowing the crowds with their cycle acrobatics in far flung climes like Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, and Australia and closer to home at the Extreme Show at The Hop Farm and bike meets at Brands Hatch. Next year M-A-D are have been booked to entertain along the route of the Tour De France.

The team generates great interest both from the public and the media. Giles says; 'I'm the proud owner of three (count them!) Blue Peter badges - all obtained over the age of 16! But on a serious note, our brand M-A-D shows kids that it's good to get outside and have fun on their bikes. We go into schools and show our skills and teach safety too working in association with B-Hit; 'The Bicycle Helmet Initiative Trust '. We've also coached at various facilities, schools and locations.'
