While domestic visitor nights nationally only increased one per cent in 2007, Tourism Australia data shows Gold Coast bucked this trend by achieving a 5.6 per cent increase. Despite the weakening of the Japanese and North American economies, international visitor numbers also achieved a growth of 0.9 per cent.
