YORK, ENGLAND, Abdiliahi Abdi Ahmed was off work for 5 months following the accident in August 2007. He was closing the door of an aircraft at Terminal 1, Heathrow when a gust of wind caught the door and caused it to slam crushing his finger.

Accident claims file was made against his employers OCS Transport Services and liability was admitted.

" The job was understaffed. There should have been someone to hold the door while Mr Ahmed pressed the safety button. Similar accidents had occurred beforehand and unfortunately the employers did not take action to ensure Mr Ahmed's safety. This accident could and should have been avoided."
Mr Ahmed adds:
"My finger was crushed. The pain was intense. I had to undergo surgery. I contacted my Union because I want to ensure that no similar accident happens to anyone else."
