HUDSON, OH, July 22, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Radcom employees received multiple honors from the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (NEO STC) at the annual NEO STC Awards and Recognition Dinner on May 14 in Lyndhurst, Ohio at Legacy Village's Bar Louie. Radcom is a technical communication, instructional design, and e-learning consulting firm based in Hudson, Ohio with a rich history of serving in leadership roles in NEO STC. Radcom president Bob Dianetti and many other staff throughout Radcom's thirteen years in business have been highly contributive members of NEO STC.
Ginny Haas, one of Radcom's Account Executives, was co-winner of the Volunteer of the Year as well as receiving the Community Volunteer Recognition Award. Other Radcom staff earning the Community Award included Radcom writers Kristen Jackson, Sharon Jendrisak, Bob Clark, and vice president Angie Dianetti. In addition, Haas was announced as the vice president for NEO STC for next year, which means she will be president in two years. She will officially relinquish her duties as treasurer and begin her new role as vice president on July 1.
Haas was asked to run for vice president by the current president and vice president. She said, "I am honored that the chapter believes in my ability to lead our vibrant chapter. We received the Award of Distinction and the Pacesetter Award from the society this year and our chapter meetings and workshops feature both local and international leaders in technical communication.
I look forward to working with the NEO STC team of the executive board, committees, and members." Regarding her Volunteer of the Year Award, Haas noted that, "This is a great group. Once I volunteered for one role, the rest was a no-brainer. Not only did I learn about team dynamics, committee budgets, and leadership, I also had a lot of fun and made friends with some wonderful people."
Committees of the Year honors went to Kristen Jackson for being part of the Competitions Committee and to Sharon Jendrisak for the Membership Committee. Jackson and her committee received the award for exemplary coordination of the 2008-2009 Technical Publications Competition. Jendrisak and her co-chair received the award for obtaining outstanding results with the 2008-2009 membership drives. There were two national drives: the new member drive and the renewal drive. They won both drives resulting in prizes and recognition for NEOSTC.
Jackson attributes the success of the Competitions Committee to the enthusiasm the members brought to the team, and to the cohesiveness with which they worked together. Jackson explained, "While members of the committee focused on different stages of the process, each committee member supported each other when someone needed help. Even with the surprisingly large number of entries we received, all members of the committee served as judges too."
This is Jendrisak's first year as a committee member. She said, "I am glad to have co-chaired the Membership Committee. It's taught me a lot about recruiting, communication, and planning. It's also given me the opportunity to talk to a lot of the members, including board members and new members. It's a great way to meet colleagues in my profession and to help the new members integrate with the society. Because of our efforts, we have gained new members from other cities and states."
