Acopian Power Supplies Wins 2015 ECN Impact Award In Social Corporate Responsibility Category

Company Honored for establishing the Acopian Engineering Center at Lafayette College in Easton, PA



    EASTON, PA, June 10, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Acopian Power Supplies, a leader in the design, manufacturing and distribution of custom, standard and modified-standard power supplies, today announced that it has won the 2015 ECN Impact Awards for establishing the Acopian Engineering Center at Lafayette College in Easton, PA. The ECN Impact Awards are sponsored by ECN Magazine to recognize the products and services that had the most noteworthy influence on the electronics components industry in 2014. Acopian won in the category of Social Corporate Responsibility. The 90,000-square-foot Acopian Engineering Center is funded by the late Sarkis Acopian, founder of Acopian Power Supplies, who graduated from Lafayette College in 1951 with a BS in mechanical engineering. Acopian Power Supplies also won the 2014 ECN Impact Award in the Power Sources and Conditioning category for its 1U 750W AC-DC Power Supply family.

The winners of the ECN Impact Awards were announced in conjunction with EDS 2015 (Electronics Distribution Show), at a ceremony at the Mirage, Las Vegas, on May 13, 2015. This premier electronics industry distribution show was co-sponsored by the ERA (Electronic Representatives Association) and ECIA (Electronic Components Industry Association).

The Acopian Engineering Center houses laboratories specifically for student-faculty research, classrooms equipped with state-of-the-art instructional technology, and student learning centers customized to the specific requirements of each engineering program and department. Included are learning centers focusing on chemical and biomolecular engineering, civil and environmental engineering, computer science, electrical and computer engineering, and mechanical engineering.

At the Acopian Engineering Center, students are equipped with the skill set necessary to define and influence the future of their fields. Faculty and students collaborate on independent studies and research, including projects undertaken through the EXCEL Scholars undergraduate research program. EXCEL Scholars helped build Microsoft's consumer Cloud, won awards from the National Science Foundation, received a Goldwater Scholarship, were awarded an Udall Scholarship, and presented research to the American Society for Cell Biology.
