Alarm Monitoring Service provider, Acadian Monitoring Services Now EMD/CPR Certified

Medical dispatch operators able to provide immediate, pre-arrival medical self help assistance to its medical alarm monitoring PERS subscribers.

LAFAYETTE, LA, October 09, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Acadian Monitoring Services is now Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certified at its Lafayette, Louisiana central station. Alarm monitoring operators for Acadian, in addition to answering and dispatching on medical two-way alarms, are now certified to provide pre-arrival instructions to its subscriber base, rendering medical assistance until EMS personnel can arrive.

The EMD is widely recognized as an essential component of effective EMS and medical response systems. Proper and timely training as well as a sound medical protocol are what help EMDs deliver quality care to the calling public with emergency medical needs.

"Acadian Monitoring Services EMDs completed Medical Priority's EMD Certification Course, which has become the standard for EMD training. The course meets or exceeds all national criteria set by the National Association of EMS Physicians, and many others. Acadian's dispatch operators are now EMD and CPR certified and the company also offers 24/7 bi-lingual (Spanish) staffing," stated Melissa Compton, Acadian's alarm monitoring center manager.

EMD consists of three parts: 1) triaging the incoming request for medical service to determine the level of response; 2) providing pre-arrival instructions to the caller, so they can immediately help the victim, as well as to responding medical personnel so they can act in the most efficient manner once on the scene; 3) quality assurance - the most critical feature of EMD, which ensures that the information and procedures being given by the dispatchers is correct, and appropriate.

"Having our EMD certification gives us an advantage in responding to medical two-way alarms," said Kenny Savoie, director of operations, Acadian Monitoring Services. "More importantly, it gives our customers peace of mind, knowing that with the press of a button immediate help is available. Now customers do not have to wait on the fire department or an ambulance to arrive to initiate critical assistance."

"AMS is a division of Acadian Ambulance Service. We recognize the need for rapid and effective assistance for people with critical medical conditions and we believe that this was a logical and necessary step for us to take to better serve our customer base," continued Savoie.

Acadian Monitoring Services alarm centers are UL listed Central Stations located in Lafayette, La and Baton Rouge, La, with a fully redundant, bi-directional backup center in Austin, TX. The center has achieved Five Diamond Certification from CSAA and also holds a UL 2050 certification. Acadian partners with security dealers/integrators across the United States to provide a full portfolio of security system monitoring, medical, video, access control, Telehealth and GPS vehicle tracking.
