NEW YORK, NY, September 15, 2011
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Chelsea's Agora Gallery will feature Argentinean artist, Alberto Montoreano, in Masters of the Imagination: The Latin American Fine Art Exhibition. The exhibition is scheduled to run from September 13, 2011 through October 4, 2011 (opening reception: Thursday, September 15, 2011).
About the Artist
Magical and ethereal, the body of work crafted by Argentinean painter Alberto Montoreano transports our senses into a world of wonder. We are presented with beautiful sweeping tableaux of majestic mountain ranges framed by a tremendous swirling atmosphere. Certain works transform these rocky outcroppings into vigorous animistic abstractions. Montoreano's characteristic focal point is the clouds that populate his canvases. They act simultaneously as the main character and a dramatic stage setting. The clouds are at once powerful and delicate, evoking natural phenomena but more importantly, psychological or spiritual conditions. Montoreano's style displays a photorealist talent for capturing what is seen, and a surrealist talent for capturing the unseen. In each piece, there is a revelation, a sense that the unexpected is just behind cloud cover. "I prefer what is suggested than what is obvious," he states. "I feel a strong surprise [that] rests in me and represents my true pleasure."
Alberto Montoreano has exhibited in South America, Europe and the United States. He lives and works in Buenos Aires.
