Aleksandra Gruzinska, PhD, Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    MESA, AZ, October 25, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Aleksandra Gruzinska, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Gruzinska celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. A widely renowned literature and language professor, Dr. Gruzinska has served as a French educator with Arizona State University for more than 40 years, and recently read a paper on Octave Mirbeau in Spokane, Washington, the culmination of a productive 2017 season. She retired from active teaching in May of last year from the School of International Letters and Cultures at Arizona State with the title of emerita. Though Dr. Gruzinska has expressed humility in accepting the Albert Nelson award, she is proud of having spent a year in Paris as a Fulbright scholar researching Mirbeau and of being inducted in 2014 as a Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Academiques. She holds membership with the order's Association des Membres and the American Society of the French Academic Palms.

Dr. Gruzinska attended The State University of New York at Buffalo, where she received a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in 1964 and Master of Arts in 1966. She went on to complete a PhD in French at Pennsylvania State University in 1973. Most recently, Dr. Gruzinska served Arizona State University as a graduate director of French between 2006 and 2008. An accomplished translator, Dr. Gruzinska has assisted with the translation of many works, such as "Diverse Thoughts on Man," "Discourse on the Art of Negotiation" and "New Interpretations in the History of French Literature." She has contributed articles to a wide range of industry-related publications, including the Journal of the American Romanian Academy of Arts and Sciences, Les Cahiers Octave Mirbeau, The Rocky Mountain Review of Language and Literature, OREES, Connections and The Polish Review, among others. Since 1985, Dr. Gruzinska has been recognized as an affiliate member with the Russian and East European Studies Consortium at Arizona State University. She has served on numerous search committees for foreign language instructors. Her entry on Octave Mirbeau is included with the "Dictionary of Literary Biography Vol. 123, Nineteenth Century French Fiction Writers: Naturalism and Beyond, 1860-1900" on pages 213 to 231.

While pursuing formal education, Dr. Gruzinska held a variety of positions with institutions throughout the United States, which included serving as an assistant professor of French with Genesee Community College, instructor of French with Rosary Hill College and teaching assistant with the department of French with Pennsylvania State University. She has been featured in a variety of honors publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who of American Women.

Throughout the course of her career, Dr. Gruzinska has contributed to numerous books and journals pertaining to her areas of expertise. She most recently wrote the preface for "L'essayiste Roumain Emile Cioran a-t-il ete un fasciste antisemite? Un effort pour le comprendre dans le contexte nationaliste," which was published in 2010.
