Alisha Totina, MD to be Featured in Exclusive Registry

    HOUMA, LA, May 6, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Alisha Totina, Physician at Bayou Pediatric Associates, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in pediatrics.

Dr. Totina's father was a pediatrician and after observing his work with children, she was inspired to become a physician herself. She began her journey toward a career in the medical profession at St. George's University medical school in the West Indies. She was awarded a Legacy of Excellence Scholarship and graduated from this institution in 2010. Afterward, Dr. Totina sought hands-on training through Tulane University's school of medicine, completing a pediatric residency program at its affiliated hospitals: Tulane Medical Center and Ochsner Medical Center.

This past year, Dr. Totina joined Terrebonne General Medical Center; she provides primary care for patients through Bayou Pediatric Associates. She also serves on the medical center's ethics and infectious disease committees. Before joining Terrebonne General, she was active in the community through the Covenant House Continuity Clinic. At one time, Dr. Totina was also affiliated with Lakeside Hospital, offering her services in the neonatal intensive-care unit after Hurricane Gustav hit the New Orleans area.

A member of the Louisiana State Medical Society, Dr. Totina aims to become a partner in a private practice, and ultimately, establish herself as a leading medical professional in the community.
