ATLANTA, GA, December 02, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Aged or unattractive wallpaper can be a headache to deal with. One false move and you have to repair your drywall in addition to removing the rest of the wallpaper. Fortunately, the Atlanta painting contractors at The Painting Penguin know the perfect, headache-free way to remove wallpaper.
Removing wallpaper yourself is a time intensive task, but it is not difficult to do if you follow the correct methods. To begin with, you will need the proper equipment, including drop cloths, a garden sprayer, and a wallpaper scraper or spackle knife.
Start the project by moving all furniture away from the walls and turning off the electricity to the room. Cover the flooring with your drop cloths, being sure to place them as close to the wall as possible. The Alpharetta painters at The Painting Penguin recommend that you also cover any furniture with drop cloths.
From this point, you will want to score shallow lines into the surface of the wallpaper. The Painting Penguin warns that cutting too deeply can damage the wall underneath the paper. Once the wall is scored, fill the sprayer with a solution of two parts very hot water to one part white vinegar.
Spray all the walls thoroughly with your spraying mixture, then allow it to soak in for 20 minutes. At the end of the 20 minutes, spray the room again and begin removing the wallpaper with your scraper.
The Atlanta painting professionals at The Painting Penguin are more than happy to remove your existing wallpaper as a part of your painting project. To learn more or to hire The Painting Penguin for your painting project, please visit http://www.thepaintingpenguin.com.
