Dr. Young is a highly acclaimed, dynamic, motivational speaker and life coach who travels throughout the country and abroad. Dr. Young has been in the public speaking arena providing motivational talks and speeches to K-12 students, higher education institutions, national organizations, corporations and churches since 1983. She is a retired higher education administrator from California State University System Headquarters, Office of the Chancellor. Her areas of expertise are organizational leadership and management, leadership development, team building, conflict resolution, goal setting, and how to build successful relationships and partnerships.

Dr. Young's successful and distinguished career in higher education spans more than 30 years and includes serving as the Assistant Dean and Associate Dean, in Academic Affairs, and later as the Statewide Director of Alumni Relations and Community Relations in the Division of University Advancement for the California State University System headquarters in Long Beach, California, USA.

Additionally, Dr. Young has served for more than 19 years as a University Adjunct Professor in the School of Business and Public Administration at the California State University, Dominguez Hills in Carson, California. She taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Administrative and Leadership Behavior, Psychological Dimensions of Leadership Behavior and Human Resource Management.

She now serves as a Special Consultant to the California State University System's African American Initiative -- an effort to recruit, enroll, retain and graduate more African American students.


Incredible Journey!
Dr. Young began college at age 15 but did not return to complete her degree until age 36. Upon earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2 years, she immediately entered a Master's degree program and completed it in four years; she then entered a doctoral program in Educational Planning, Policy, and Administration at the University of Southern California, (USC) one of the nation's most prestigious colleges and completed this in 3 years.

She is involved in a number of professional organizations and has served on numerous boards that include the following:

• National Institute for the Advancement of Multicultural and Minority Medicine (IAMMM) (2003-present)

• Goodwill Board of Directors, Long Beach/South Bay (past Vice President) (1999-2004)
• National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) (1997-2002)
• California Board of Respiratory Care (CBRC) (1994-1997)

She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Rolling Hills/Palos Verde Chapter, and founded the Long Beach Nu Lambda Chapter of Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority. Dr. Young has been listed in Who's Who In Black America since 1977.
