American Horror Story Actress Jamie Brewer To Be The First Person With Down Syndrome To Walk The Runway in New York Fashion Week

Actress Jamie Brewer, from the award-winning FX Television Series "American Horror Story," will make her New York Fashion Week debut Thursday, February 12th, 2015.



    LOS ANGELES, CA, February 12, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jamie is excited to strut the runway in designer Carrie Hammer's show titled 'Role Models not Runway Models'. Hammer broke records in February 2014 when her debut runway show 'Role Models Not Runway Models' included powerhouse women from CEOs and entrepreneurs, to the first runway model in a wheelchair at New York Fashion Week.

New York Fashion Week is a semi annual series of fashion shows by the worlds leading and cutting edge fashion designers. It is where international fashion collections are shown to buyers, press and general public. Carrie's show will be held February 12, 2015, at 10am, at the Lightbox in Manhattan.

Jamie Brewer, who is repped by the talent agency KMR in Los Angeles, is best known for her breakthrough multi-dimensional role as Adelaide 'Addie' Langdon in American Horror Story: Murder House. She has a theatre background, which started in 1999. Jamie appeared/spoke in PSA's for the "Super Bowl of Caring Houston Food Drive" in Houston, TX for 2 consecutive years which aired on NBC, ABC, and CBS. Jamie has also appeared on the TV series Southland. Jamie came back to American Horror Story in a lead role as the character of Nan on American Horror Story: Coven. Nan was a fan favorite on that season and showed off Jamie's acting range. As well as Season 4 playing opposite Neil Patrick Harris, winning critical acclaim as 'Marjorie' his ventriloquist dummy/alter ego.

Jamie works tirelessly for the Down Syndrome and disabled communities. When 19, she was appointed to the State of Texas ARC Board. Jamie was 1 of 17 people to represent all individuals with a handicap for the entire state of Texas and served for 4 years on this board. While being on Texas ARC Board, Jamie was elected to the Executive Board for the State of Texas ARC as Treasurer, and served for three years. Then while being on both of these boards, Jamie was asked to serve on the Governmental Affairs Committee for the State of Texas where she was the only person with a disability and served for 2 years, speaking and advocating for the disabled at the Texas State Capitol with the state lawmakers to change the state's wording to 'intellectually disabled". It was a great honor for Jamie to be recognized by the Down Syndrome Association of Los Angeles by receiving the Down Syndrome of Los Angeles' SunDown Awards 2012 Vision Award for Entertainment and Advocacy.
