/24-7PressRelease/ - WAYNE, PA, January 25, 2008 — The average American home has increased in size dramatically while the average household has shrunk by 1 person. Even with extra space and less people, Americans are still filling their homes, garages and storage units at alarming rates. Clutter has become a big problem for many people, and for some it is a disorder called Hoarding. The Obsessive Compulsive Foundation (http://www.ocfoundation.org/hoarding/index.php) defines hording as "acquiring and keeping objects to such an extent that they begin to impair the normal use of one's living space."

Transit Systems, a small move specialist, offers 3 tips to help people reduce clutter and reduce stress at the same time:

1. Evaluate the situation: Is clutter preventing you from enjoying your family and friends? Is clutter taking over your house, garage and storage units? Have you spent hundreds, even thousands of dollars accumulating things? If you answer yes, then you may not only be a collector of clutter, you may have hoarding syndrome.

2. Ask for help - it's too much to do it alone. Ask family and friends for help. There are
also many support groups and therapists who treat people with this syndrome.

3. Start getting rid of things - Take a good look at everything. Determine what can be thrown out, sold, donated, given to family members and what items you would like to keep. There are many organizations such as The Salvation Army (www.SalvationArmyUSA.org) who are always in need of donations. Some things do have value, but you just don't have the room to keep them. If shipping a large item like a sofa, dining room set or bedroom set to a friend or family member who lives out of state, use a small mover. A small mover will ship your items at a much lower cost than a full-sized mover would charge.

According to Christopher Smith, President of Transit Systems, "We understand that people want to keep their "stuff". But people would also like to see family and friends use and enjoy the items they've collected over the years. They just don't know how to get it to them without paying a lot of money. A small mover is a perfect solution for them. We make shipping large items easy and cost-effective. We can help them reduce their clutter and stress at the same time."
