LONDON, ENGLAND, September 15, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Professor Jennison will join our speaker panel evaluating innovations in clinical trial design at the Innovation in Clinical Design, Analysis and Reporting conference in London, 07th-8th of December 2010.

Professor Chris Jennison will survey statistical methods for the design, monitoring and adaptation of clinical trials. He will introduce group sequential "error spending" tests that offer flexibility to deal with fluctuations in patient accrual or response rates and the uncertainties of survival data. He will present adaptive methods and discuss their application in: sample size re-estimation, refining the patient population in "enrichment" designs, and selecting the treatment or dose level to take forward to the second stage of a combined Phase II/III trial.

Key topics that will be covered in this course are:

-How to create and implement a group sequential clinical trial design
-Effective monitoring of a clinical trial with a survival endpoint
-Motivation for adaptive and flexible clinical trial designs
-The combination rule as a basis for adaptive methods
-Sample size re-estimation for updated estimates of the response variance
-Sample size modification to rescue an under-powered study
-Group sequential designs to handle uncertainty about the likely treatment effect
-Adaptive designs for population enrichment
-Adaptive treatment selection in a seamless Phase II / III design

Professor Chris Jennison will be speaking at Pharma IQ's conference in addition to other speakers such as: Jose Pinheiro, Biostatistics Senior Director, Johnson and Johnson, Andrew Thomson, Statistical Assessor, MHRA, James Matcham, Director, Biostatistics, Amgen, Vladimir Anisimov, Senior Director, Research Statistics Unit, GSK and Francis Kendall, Head of Programming from Roche.
