LOS ANGELES, CA, May 02, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- These days, dogs have been getting all the attention, but have we forgotten about our other domesticated companion, the cat? Los Angeles-based pet jewelry brand, Beasty Bling, launches their Ancient Egyptian inspired cat jewelry line. Beasty Bling's cat jewelry and accessories line will be a main stay for the company moving forward.

"There is an unexplainable fulfillment and human curiosity we experience when we spend time with cats, which is probably why the Ancient Egyptians first started to domesticate wildcats from Africa," said Kate Noto, designer and CEO of Beasty Bling.

Since the Ancient Egyptians began domesticating wildcats, these beautiful, graceful, powerful hunters can be seen in artwork throughout history. While cats are known for their independence, they are actually considered a social species that use a variety of vocalizations and body language to communicate.

"We shouldn't be afraid of dressing our cats as we would our dogs. It's a rare pup that can make pet accessories look as regal as a feline can," said Noto.

The domesticated cat continued to evolve and by 1500 BC, in Egypt cats were so loved and revered that if a pet cat died, the owner would shave their eyebrows as a symbol of grief and would mummify their pet. If a house caught fire, the rule went like this—cats first, humans second. Cats were so highly regarded that over 300,000 cat mummies were discovered in one excavation during the 1800s, outnumbering human mummies by far. Even mice were mummified so that the cats would have something to eat in the afterlife. Beasty Bling's tribute to the Ancient Egyptians, can be found at http://www.BeastyBling.com .

Beasty Bling is a pet jewelry brand that exemplifies the unbridled love and affection we have for our pets and fashion. Each design joins precious and semi-precious stones, metals and found objects that emanate low-key luxury. Beasty Bling preps pets in neckwear similar to what we find in our own jewelry box. Each piece is uniquely hand crafted but recognizable by its functional toggle and select materials.
