/24-7PressRelease/ - WESTPORT, CT, April 25, 2008 - Andover College Prep is hosting a schedule of seminars for area parents and high school students for an open discussion titled, "Top 10 Secrets of the College Admissions Process".
Nathan Allen, best-selling author and contributing media expert on the topic, will lead the free discussion about what colleges are, and are not, looking for in the admissions process. "I can assure parents and students that it will be an eye-opening experience. Different schools look for different things. Things have changed dramatically since it was simply good grades and a high SAT score."
In an open forum discussion, Allen, who is the former executive director of The Princeton Review and founder of Andover College Prep, will address concerns of parents and students; and provide the answers to the short-term and longer-term actions that will have a tremendous impact for some applicants. "There are simple 'Dos and Don'ts' that can filter the applications immediately. From state schools and out-of-state students to private colleges and universities, admissions offices put more emphasis on some items more than others," Allen explained. "The seminars are more direct than the information received at any 'college night.' This is the inside info that I can assure, people have never heard before and won't hear anywhere else."
Timed for peak interest in college preparations the seminars from Andover take place throughout May, a time when high school juniors will be taking the SAT exam. Allen says, "It'll be a major wake-up call for students and parents. Most students will take the exam again in the fall, attend college tours and begin to fill out applications."
The seminars will be held throughout Fairfield County at each of the Andover offices in Westport, New Canaan, Greenwich and Ridgefield.
