VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA, March 25, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Annette Gillespie, M.Ed. (Hons), Chief Executive Officer at Women's Domestic Violence Crisis Service, has been recognised for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in social services.
Women's Domestic Violence Crisis Service is a domestic violence crisis service centre that provides emergency accommodation, a 24-hour crisis response line, outreach, advocacy and support services - all at no charge to the client.
With 20 years of experience in her field, Ms. Gillespie is known for her expertise in violence prevention, organisational development, strategy and community leadership.
Recently inducted into Worldwide Branding, Ms. Gillespie attributes her success to her unwavering commitment to preventing violence against women and children. She became involved in her profession after learning about domestic violence at university. She was appalled by the statistics and started volunteering at a shelter and interacting with children from violent homes. Ms. Gillespie saw a large gap in the services for children in their counselling support and began a long academic career, achieving a Master of Education and a Certificate in Counselling.
For the past 13 years, Ms. Gillespie has worked as a CEO and has focused on community leadership working with community-based organisations to create social change.
In the years ahead, Ms. Gillespie aims to attain an international role so that she can have a bigger impact on gender equality and continue to contribute towards the elimination of violence against women and their children.
