With 26 years of professional experience, 15 of which have been in her current position, Ms. Tarpley's expertise lies in forensic nursing. She is responsible for overseeing emergency and forensic services when consultations are in place for patients who require her knowledge and expertise. In addition to working as a forensic nurse, she is also a certified sexual assault nurse examiner and acts as an expert witness and legal consultant. Hard work, dedication and passion for her profession are the driving forces behind her success. The highlight of her career was obtaining her certification in forensic nursing.

Ms. Tarpley received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Radford University and is pursuing her Master's Degree in Nursing from Radford University. She is a member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners, the Blue Ridge Emergency Nurses Association, the Virginia Association of Forensic Nurses, the International Association of Forensic Nurses, the American Nurses Association, and Phi Kappa Phi. She has delivered several presentations concerning such issues as shaken baby syndrome, forensic documentation, the forensic patient and the role of the forensic nurse examiner, elder abuse/neglect and profile of the abuser, child abuse and neglect, distinguishing SIDS from child abuse fatalities, evidence collection and preservation, sexual assault and domestic violence and intimate partner violence.
