From August 13 to September 10, 2007, collectors of interesting or unusual items will have the chance to win $20,000 in cash when they show off their collections by submitting short video entries at http://www.apartments.com/possessionobsession.
"Whether it be shoes, stamps or porcelain dolls, more than 40 percent of U.S. households have someone who finds great joy and happiness in their hobby of collecting," said Lisa DeVries, Apartments.com spokesperson. "Through the 'Possession Obsession' contest, we hope to give these collectors a place to proudly showcase their passions, and possibly win $20,000 while they're at it."
To enter, each contestant should send in a one-to two-minute video that shows their "Possession Obsession." Each entry should include how their "Possession Obsession" began, reveal ways the collection has come to life in the contestant's apartment and illustrate the funniest situations he or she has encountered because of this collection. Collectors can submit videos online from August 13 through September 10 on the contest Web site.
Contest entries will be evaluated based on creativity, humor and originality by a panel of judges, including experts from Apartments.com.
Between September 17 and October 19, finalists will be posted to the contest Web site where the general public can view the submissions and vote for who they think should win the Grand Prize. One grand prize winner will win a $20,000 cash prize and the two runner-up finalists each will receive a cash prize of $500.
