APM Engine Parts Explains Engine-related Rule Changes for Racing in 2014

The rebuilt engines specialists, APM Engine Parts, discuss the new engine guidelines racers will need to adhere to in 2014. Many of these manual revisions will affect parts sales from local and national suppliers as a result.

ATLANTA, GA, May 09, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The engine crankshaft experts, APM Engine Parts, say racers in 2014 are facing a number of new changes with regards to their engine specs. Every year, the United States Racing Association (USRA) reviews its guidelines and makes changes as it sees fit. The organization's mission is to make racing fair, affordable and enjoyable for all racers, and to that end, it must ensure under-the-hood specs are regulated.

New Engine Parts Specs May Help or Hurt Racers in 2014

To put it simply, if there were no limitations, the majority of wins would be from racers who have put the most money into their vehicles. Everyone knows that skill behind the wheel, not the value of one's engine parts, separates the pros from the amateurs, but an unrestricted, high-performance motor certainly presents an unfair advantage.

Perhaps not surprisingly, local and national engine parts dealers are feeling the effect of the USRA's recent rule updates; a smaller part list could potentially mean less income for performance building shops and retailers. To be clear, in no way do these changes affect every racer and each event.

The USRA recognizes four racing categories (Modifieds, Stocks, B-Mods and Hobby Stocks), with some updates even allowing for greater in-class customization.

According to David DeBuc, Vice President of APM Engine Parts, "Whereas the CT400 Chevy small block is now allowed for mod racers, those driving B-mods can no longer use aluminum driveshafts. The USRA is quite selective in their changes, but they rarely impact the majority of racers."
