Apollo College in Tucson Recognized for Best School, Teacher and Community Service
Apollo College in Tucson captured three awards including: School of the Year, Teacher of the Year and Best Community Student Practice.

    TUCSON, AZ, June 19, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Apollo College in Tucson captured three awards including: School of the Year, Teacher of the Year and Best Community Student Practice at the recent 2009 Arizona Private School Association (APSA) awards ceremony.
Marvonne Ebert, lead instructor for medical assisting and medical administrative assisting was awarded Teacher of the Year for her innovation and problem solving ability, her student's low absenteeism rate, and her volunteer efforts.
The Best Community Student Practice award was given to the Tucson campus for their outstanding efforts ranging from showing grade school children how to brush their teeth to saving hundreds of lives through its regular blood drives. Of special note, Apollo College Tucson formed a Red Cross Racing Team which competed nationally with 1,270 other teams. Apollo College Tucson placed in the top 7% of blood donations ranking it 87th in the country.
"Apollo College Tucson represents Arizona higher education well," said Fred Lockhart, executive director of the APSA. "They do it all right - great teachers, students and community spirit. I have met several of the outstanding faculty and staff at Apollo Tucson. Their passion for education and commitment to their students is evident in what they do every day. They are truly deserving of the APSA's title, 2009 School of the Year."
Richard Benedetto, dean of education at Apollo said, "I am very proud of the staff, faculty, and especially our students. These achievements could not have been realized had it not been for the synergy that this campus shares."
The Tucson campus, located at 3550 N. Oracle Road, offers nine to 15 month programs leading to diplomas in dental assisting, fitness training, massage therapy, medical administrative assisting, medical assisting, pharmacy technician, physical therapy technician and veterinary assistant and associate degrees in medical laboratory technician and medical office management.
