Joins Virtualization Leader's Technology Software Alliance program

/24-7PressRelease/ - DARESBURY, UK, June 02, 2005 - AppSense, a specialist in system performance and security, today announced it has joined the VMware Technology Software Alliance Program. AppSense plans to extend the benefits of its performance improvement, system management and security capabilities to VMware virtual infrastructure environments, which are fast becoming the technology of choice on x86 platforms.

AppSense and VMware share the common goal of enabling customers to gain optimum value from IT resources. AppSense Management Suite increases the system performance and stability of both server and desktop environments by automatically optimizing system utilization, tightening security and simplifying management. In establishing a relationship with VMware, AppSense will bring the same positive impact it has achieved with the AppSense Management Suite on physical servers and desktops to virtual environments.

"VMware has made a tremendous impact on data centre efficiencies by creating a single pool of computing resources that can be allocated based on business requirements. Expectations will continue to rise as customers demand even more from their existing IT infrastructure," commented Tony Bolland, VP corporate development at AppSense. "By optimizing application behaviour we are able to improve the capacity of physical servers by more than 40% in many instances. We are excited about working with VMware to achieve the similar benefits in virtual environments."

Features that AppSense delivers to virtual infrastructure environments include dynamic processor control, application memory optimization, and automatic system set-up and management. AppSense plans to leverage the VMware's software developers' kit (SDK), which will enable a seamless integration and drive greater joint customer value.
