/24-7PressRelease/ - April 24, 2007 - Founded in 1939, the Institute of Food Technologists is a nonprofit scientific society with 22,000 members working in food science, food technology, and related professions in industry, academia, and government. IFT publishes various resources for the food industry, including Food Technology and the Journal of Food Science. IFT also conducts the world's largest annual convention on food grown, processed, manufactured, distributed and eaten worldwide, the IFT Annual Meeting & Food Expo.

BatchMaster assists with compliance regulations applied to the process manufacturing industry, including the BioTerrorism Act, HACCP, 21 CFR Part 11, and MSDS. Using BatchMaster for new and current product development includes the use of formula management, laboratory, and samples management to bring dependability to the process manufacturing warehouse. To provide flawless process manufacturing benefits, BatchMaster also offers material and capacity planning. If a product is formula- or recipe-based, it is likely BatchMaster Process Manufacturing ERP will improve operating effectiveness and efficiencies.

Allergen contamination from facilities, equipment, materials, utensils, food handling, air, storage, and even cleaning practices can be problematic, especially given the regulatory zero tolerance limits. Control of contamination involves a varied combination of solutions which are generally unique to the product and process. Industry best practices including dust controls, equipment design modification, changes in operational sanitation and cleaning practices, storage, work-in-process controls, rework controls, strict protection during storage, color coding and letter coding systems, allergen awareness training, and a myriad of other additional measures exist. Control measures and current tools for monitoring their effectiveness will be discussed by Melissa L. Calicchia, Founder and Senior Technical Director for LA-based Food Safety Solutions, Inc.

Titled "Allergen Control in the Food Plant" the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) event is co-sponsored by BatchMaster on Wednesday April 18. Held at Almansor Court, (located at 700 S. Almansor Street in Alhambra, CA) the central topic will address controlling risk of hazard from allergens in the food manufacturing environment and how it continues to present a great challenge to the food industry. According to Preston Blevins, vice-president of BatchMaster (www.batchmaster.com), "We are proud to co-sponsor this important IFT event. BatchMaster fully supports the mission of the IFT "To fulfill human needs for a quality food supply through science, technology and education."
