April Lauper Joins the Ranks of Leading Professionals

    HOUSTON, TX, November 9, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- April Lauper, Technical Professional Leader of Vessel Mechanical Technology at KBR Technical Services Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in engineering.

Dr. Lauper specializes in pressure vessel mechanical engineering and has served as the technical professional leader of vessel mechanical technology at KBR Technical Services Inc. for the past 23 years. In her position, she designs pressure vessels, storage tanks, and vertical and horizontal drums and reactors. She is also responsible for keeping up to date with the country codes for pressure vessels, which change every six months. Dr. Lauper is a problem solver and attributes her success to her mathematical skills. She is the author of "The Effect of Leadership Training and Networking Opportunities on Professional Advancement: A Quantitative Study."

In 2009, she earned a Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Phoenix. She also holds a Master of Business Administration in finance, earned in 2000 from Our Lady of Lake University. A licensed professional engineer in the state of Texas, Dr. Lauper is a lifetime member of the Society of Women Engineers and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. She also belongs to AAUW and the Federation of Houston Professional Women. In 2001, she was named an FHPW Distinguished Toastmaster by Toastmasters International. Dr. Lauper is also the recipient of the Woman of Excellence award from Delta Mu Delta. In her spare time, she lends her services to the American Diabetes Association, mentors students at North Carolina State University, and volunteers as a judge for various science and engineering fairs.
