Are UK Holidays Automatically Budget Holidays?
Recently (11 Feb 08) The Telegraph reported that a weak pound looks likely to keep Brits at home this summer, sending them scurrying to book a massive five million more UK-based holidays than last year.

LONDON, ENGLAND, September 03, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Budget holidays are all the rage. Research by UK tourism's VisitBritain and VisitLondon showed that a whopping 20% of UK holidaymakers who went abroad last year plan to save money this year by choosing a holiday on home soil.

Obviously this is great news for the UK tourist industry. But is a UK-based holiday always the lowest cost option?

Holiday price comparison website BeatTheBrochure.com advises people to do their research first. "This country has the widest variety of weather and geology of any country in the world." they say. "I'm not knocking it as a holiday destination, far from it. But if people genuinely want to save money it's a good idea to check online and see if a holiday abroad might actually be the lowest cost choice. Never assume that UK holidays are always going to be budget holidays."

Despite 2008's fuel price crisis there are loads of low cost flights and budget holiday packages around. XL Leisure collapsed last September and Thomas Cook and rival Tui Travel's reduced their 2009 holiday capacity. But there are still some fantastic deals to be found. You just have to spend time hunting them down.

In addition to that, fuel costs have fallen and fuel surcharges might carry on falling in line. "Things are still extremely fluid out there in the holiday market, as they are in the economy as a whole" says BeatTheBrochure.com. "For the forseeable future, we recommend keeping a completely open mind."

BeatTheBrochure's mission is to deliver the lowest cost budget holidays first time, every time. "If anyone can find a cheaper deal in any brochure, anywhere," they conclude, "we want to know about it!"
