    (AREA) cranks up the heat this cold summer

/24-7PressRelease/ - EVERTHORPE, UK, September 15, 2007 - It seems like people in (AREA) aren't quite as hardy as they think, with many households switching their central heating back on to keep themselves warm during the lost summer months of June, July and August.

A recent survey by Powergen1, part of E.ON - the UK's largest integrated electricity and gas company, revealed that 32 per cent of households in (AREA) switched their heating on to keep out the cold chill in what should have been the UK's hottest months.

(RESIDENTS) did however fare better than their counterparts in the (AREA) and (AREA) with 36 and 39 per cent of households respectively deciding to crank up the heat.

Philip Robinson, Home Energy Services Manager at Powergen, said: "Torrential downpours, strong winds and truly miserable weather have cast a dark cloud over most of the UK during the last few months. But, while much of the country tried to grin and bear it, people living in (AREA) proved to be creatures of comfort. It really is a damning indication of how awful summer 2007 has been.

"It's been a busy summer for Powergen with many people who have used their boilers and central heating systems earlier than normal being caught out with faults and breakdowns during this miserable summer.

"We're therefore encouraging homeowners to make sure that their boiler is in tip top condition all year round to avoid unforeseen emergencies and being caught out by our unpredictable UK weather.

"People can sign up to maintenance schemes like Powergen's Central Heating Care - so, if their boiler breaks down when the sun is in short supply, they can have peace of mind."

Surprisingly 51 per cent of those households questioned in (AREA) do not have any form of insurance or care plan cover to look after their boiler or central heating system - the highest in the UK, even though 30 per cent have endured the hassle of an emergency call out.

Powergen's Central Heating Care offers a range of benefits, including:
• A two-hour appointment time for when the engineers will arrive;
• Convenient appointment times from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week;
• An annual safety and maintenance inspection to make sure the boiler and central heating system are working safely and efficiently;
• Free repairs and no additional labour charges; and
• Unlimited call outs for repairs.

Powergen, which is part of E.ON, is one of the largest energy suppliers in the UK with 5.5 million residential and small business customers. Powergen also offers a range of home energy services, including boiler and central heating installation, maintenance and insurance.
