The 85-foot tall blue spruce is the largest tree in history and the first one donated by Arizona to stand on the White House grounds. Accompanying the tree is "Christmas in Arizona" - a painting capturing the unique spirit of Christmas from the Grand Canyon State.
About the Artist - Alan Arne is the winner of Arizona's state-wide art competition held in conjunction with the Capitol Christmas Tree Program. Exhibition Director for the Arizona Art Alliance based in Phoenix, Arne has been selflessly donating his time and energy to the betterment of the arts in Arizona for over 10 years, twice nominated for the Arts Advocate of the Year Award.
About the Art - Christmas in Arizona - Ink collage on paper - A Southwestern motif cruciform capturing the symbolic images of Jesus, the Cross, the Tree, and Wreath bridged with decorative ribbon and bow joyfully wrapping the Gift of Life.
This piece will hang in the office of the Chief of the Forest Service for one year and ultimately become part of the permanent collection at "The Tree Gallery" in Washington D.C..
