Nikki Young is putting arts in the spotlight once again, as Monarch Academy hosts her Art & Acting Summer Camp in July.
Led by Young (who teaches Creative Arts at the school), the camp - inclusive and open to students of all levels of acting experience and creative development, from second grade through senior year - will immerse young people in the arts for one week only. "This is going to be a unique event for our students," she explains. "And it's for everyone. Whatever your learning and creative abilities, this camp will give you the full arts * experience."
Activities and subjects will include:
* Arts and crafts
* Film acting and scene study
* Auditioning techniques
* Acting for commercials
* Theatre and improvisation
* Storytelling and joke telling
* And more
The camp will end with a talent show on Friday, July 25.
A portion of the proceeds from registration will benefit Monarch Academy in its mission to provide a unique learning experience for students with special needs. "The arts are a truly inclusive field," says Principal Anne Bristol. "Anyone can participate in them. So we're excited to be hosting this camp, and to have a teacher like Nikki who does so much for our community."
As an acting coach, Young has worked with hundreds of students of all ages through camps, churches, film sets, and private sessions. "I've had parents and former students asking when I'd be teaching another class or camp," she says. "So I'm excited to be leading this summer camp, and I'm honored to have the opportunity to support Monarch Academy and all they do."
