SANTA BARBARA, CA, May 17, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Anderson Art Collective (http://www.andersonartcollective.com) demonstrates on Saturday, May 16th, that it is what it says it is: a fresh new contemporary gallery that has grown out of meaning, not money. Three non-profit organizations will be receiving money as a result of their inaugural show: Collective.

The Jesusita fire happened after we had already decided to donate 5% of all sales to the Haven (http://www.geocities.com/talhado), a non-profit school for under-privileged children in the township of St. Francis, South Africa, says Susie Anderson. We have close friends though who have just lost their homes in the fire and we want to help. One aspect of the show opening on Saturday is the spontaneous, collaborative creation of art from objects guests are bringing to the show. We are now going to use that art to raise money in a silent auction and give it to the Unity Shoppe (http://www.unityshoppe.org) and the United Way Jesusita Fire Long Term Recovery Fund (http://www.unitedwaysb.org) for distribution to those families whose homes were damaged in the fire.

According to the Jesusita Fire Fact Sheet assessment on May 15th, 80 homes were destroyed, 15 homes were damaged, 79 outbuildings were destroyed, 2 outbuildings were damaged and one commercial property was destroyed. Nearly 9000 acres were burned and the estimated costs to date stand at $17million. The cause is still under investigation.

The Anderson Art Collective show opening is Saturday, May 16 from 5-9pm and runs through June 14th at 410 Palm Avenue, Building A2 in Carpinteria, CA in the historical Henry Fish Seed Company building at the entrance to the Carpinteria State Beach. The public is invited and asked to bring an object no bigger than their hand for the interactive part of the evening.

Anderson Art Collective is the grass roots collaborative effort of a family of three artists: Ron Anderson (http://ronandersonart.com), Benjamin Anderson (http://benjaminanderson.com) and Sean Anderson (http://seananderson.com). Family ties, common goals and the creation of contemporary art were the forces behind creating the Collective, a unique exhibition space focusing on forward thinking art practices. The Collective ultimately is a platform to promote the Arts, to support the Environment and to recognize and support Human Rights. Each show donates to selected non-profit organizations from around the world.
