/24-7PressRelease/ - January 24, 2007 - Both a professional artist and educator, Ramanathan's numerous works have been acquired by private, corporate and public collections around the United States and in Europe. Her unique paintings on and behind Plexiglas, linen and canvas have been described as "tactile works that resonate with a quiet harmony" and "Simply Luxurious" by Manhattan Arts, New York.

Following the renovation of the Cafe Bellagio in 2004, two large mixed media textural paintings commissioned by the MGM Mirage painted in the artists' signature style of abstract painting, have been permanently displayed in the Conservatory/indoor botanical gardens of the Hotel Bellagio at Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.A since Autumn 2004.

To quote from an excerpt from a recent interview with the artist, "Chitra's paintings exemplify her love of nature as well as the subjectivity of each individual's unique pursuit of happiness. Her painting procedure often entails making mental notes of a scene in nature, including the lighting, colors, and textures. She then uses these impressions in her studio to replicate the subject matter in an abstracted form, using rich physical textures, intense colors, and varied media".

Chitra Ramanathan has been invited to include her paintings in the UNICEF-Sothebys of London's "Flagship Project Exhibition to take place in April 2007 at Amsterdam, Holland, one of which will be donated for auction towards raising funds for UNICEF.

In 2005 She was invited as a Visiting Artist & Lecturer to the Royal Academy of Arts, London, England.
