TROY, NY, June 24, 2010
/24-7PressRelease/ -- A documentary video about the programs and achievements of The Arts Center of the Capital Region in Troy has received national and international recognition in the 31st annual Telly Awards competition, organizers of the prestigious media awards program have announced.
"Beacon on Monument Square," a 16-minute film about The Arts Center by California filmmaker Ronn Kilby, was honored with a Bronze Telly Award in the "Non-broadcast" category for non-profit organizations.
"We were thrilled when we saw the film," Amy Williams, president of The Arts Center, said. "In just a few minutes, it offers a panoramic look at the whole range of Arts Center activities, through the eyes of the artists, students, teachers, audiences, and community members who make and experience the arts every day at The Arts Center. . . .
"We already knew Ronn did a fabulous job capturing the heart and soul of The Arts Center, but it's gratifying to see the film honored with a Telly Award," Williams added.
Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest film and video productions, and groundbreaking web commercials, videos and films. On The Arts Center documentary, he worked with freelance writer Kenneth Salzmann, the center's former vice president for marketing and development, who served as field producer.
"Beacon on Monument Square" was premiered in April at an Arts Center event marking the organization's first ten years in its 36,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art exhibition, performance, and teaching facility in downtown Troy.
