CHICAGO, IL, April 22, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The ABPsi International Convention provides an outstanding educational program, which includes continuing education units and general professional development opportunities for attendees. Keynote speakers, guest panelists and general sessions cover a diverse array of topics related to the practice, research, and professional training related to the total well being of our world community.

In addition to over 80 presentations, the Annual Business and Committee meetings are held, along with students and young professionals being mentored by the association's elders and seasoned members.

Chicago has a rich history of Black American heritage, which makes this an ideal location to host the International Convention. The host chapter, along with assistance from the National chapter, is working diligently to make this event spectacular, fun, and a great learning experience for all attendees.

The Association of Black Psychologists was founded in San Francisco in 1968 by a number of Black Psychologists from across the country. They united to actively address the serious problems facing Black Psychologists and the larger Black community. Guided by the principle of self-determination, these psychologists set about building an institution through which they could address the long neglected needs of Black professionals. Their goal was to have a positive impact upon the mental health of the national Black community by means of planning, programs, services, training, and advocacy.

The Association of Black Psychologist, is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that sees its mission and destiny as the liberation of the African Mind, empowerment of the African Character, and enlivenment and illumination of the African Spirit.
