WYNCOTE, PA, May 17, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- ATD-American Co., a Wyncote, PA women-owned small business selling school furniture, was lauded by U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke at his April 30th town hall meeting in Philadelphia, as "one of two very important businesses who have successfully worked with our U.S. Export Assistance Center (USEAC) here in Philadelphia."

Timothy Voit, ATD's International Sales Manager, was on hand to participate in Secretary Locke's discussion of President Obama's National Export Initiative and how it has helped U.S. companies sell more goods and services and support the creation of American jobs.

Voit, under the guidance of Antonio Ceballos, Director of USEAC, worked with the Commerce Department's International Trade Association (ITA) to identify and screen new customers and attended trade shows together. This partnership has yielded new classroom furniture business in Poland, Germany, Argentina, the United Emirates and Trinidad with orders including school desks and chairs.

The U.S. Department of Commerce awarded an Export Achievement certificate for 2009 to ATD-American Co. which also received a letter of commendation from the office of U.S. Representative Chaka Fattah for Export Achievement.

"ATD sells school furniture to over 70 countries on 5 continents," states Voit, who added that "ATD's 2010 export sales are recovering even faster than their domestic sales. Among our 2010 projects is a $300,000 project with university seating which we have designed and will be installed in the Dominican Republic. We look forward to more such projects."
